2013 College Football Recruits: Pac-12 Teams Who Need Quarterback Max Browne
With college football's 2012 national signing day now a thing of the past, naturally our attention now turns to the recruiting class of 2013. One of the most prominent players coming out of that class is Skyline High School quarterback Max Browne.
This past season, he threw for 4,034 yards while tossing 45 touchdowns. Believe it or not, that was actually worse than his previous season. During his sophomore year, he had 4,182 passing yards with 50 touchdown passes.
As it can be seen, he has the potential to be a big-time play maker for wherever he lands.
As he plays in Washington, he has been heavily pursued by many Pac-12 programs. With the conference on the rise and with many programs in need of a future quarterback, Browne will likely be courted by this conference.
If he is going to land in the Pac-12, these teams are going to need to take their best shot at the stud quarterback.
Arizona State Sun Devils
With new head coach Todd Graham rebuilding the Sun Devils' program from the ground up, he may see Browne as the perfect component in bringing this program back to glory.
The Sun Devils are definitely a long shot to land the prized signal caller, but Graham may just be waiting on this piece after not signing any quarterbacks this past season. The team has four quarterbacks already on the roster, but it will remain to be seen if any of them will pan out.
Guys like Taylor Kelly and Mike Bercovici have looked solid in their brief appearances, while guys like Danny Lewis and Michael Eubank have yet to be given a shot.
Graham will likely get a feel for his QB situation as the season approaches, but Browne is one guy he certainly can't pass up on if the opportunity arises.
Stanford Cardinal
With quarterback Andrew Luck moving onto greener pastures, the Cardinal are going to need to look for their signal caller for the future. The team did not sign a quarterback with this class, but that is understandable considering they have seven potential passers returning next season.
Of all the guys returning, only Josh Nunes is at least a four-Star recruit. Considering that he will be a junior this coming season, the team will need to find a solid starter for their future.
Their other six quarterbacks could pan out, as it isn't a guarantee that they won't be studs just because they are three-star recruits, but coach David Shaw would likely see Browne as a true successor to Luck. Especially since both are pro-style quarterbacks.
It remains to be seen how the team will fare without Luck this season, but they have made two consecutive BCS bowls, so it likely is an attractive landing spot for Browne.
Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats will be losing solid quarterback Nick Foles this season, so coach Rich Rodriguez is going to be building this program from the ground up. He did sign two quarterbacks during this recruiting season, but neither really standout as star-caliber players.
The team does have Daxx Garman returning for his sophomore season, but Rich-Rod is losing senior quarterback Tom Savage, as he decided to transfer when the former Michigan Wolverines coach took the job.
That leaves the Wildcats with a pretty big void at quarterback, so landing a great player like Browne would help put them over the top.
With the the Wildcats in a sticky situation this season at quarterback, they will have to hope that their new head coach can create an appealing offer when going after this big fish.
