Super Bowl XLVI: Biggest Surprises from Media Day

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

The 2012 Super Bowl media day was a more subdued affair than it has been in recent years.

However, there were still a number of interesting and entertaining events and some revelations that might affect the game on Sunday.

Here are some of the highlights.

Chad Ochocinco

Ochocinco would normally have been one of the biggest stories of media day in years past. His outrageous and over-the-top personality usually gives at least a few talking points.

As a member of the Patriots, though, Ochocinco is in a very different situation.

He did not get his own podium and he did not say anything worthy of a headline.

The big surprise here is that the eccentric receiver restrained himself from pulling a publicity stunt.

Rob Gronkowski

The Pats’ TE held a chat with the press for about an hour at a podium. He was candid, funny and mysterious all at once.

Gronk revealed that he ditched his walking boot yesterday and will not wear it again this week.

He said he’s taking the high ankle sprain day-by-day and, when, asked by a reporter to describe the pain, he jokingly said he would give the man one.

The funniest part of the conference came when TV host Maria Menounos informed him she had to wear a Giants’ bikini if that team won.

Rob responded that at least there would be one positive thing if the Patriots happened to lose.

With news that Peyton Manning may retire breaking today, he was the talk of the town in Indianapolis.

Almost every player on the Pats and Giants said they were not paying attention to the story, but that didn’t stop people from asking about it.

Manning is a Colts’ legend and his brother is going to be appearing in the Super Bowl in his city, which makes it an obvious talking point.
