2012 NBA All-Star Game: Odds for the East and West Rosters' Starters
NBA All-Star balloting is still going on, as the league is set to announce the starters for this year's game in Orlando during a pre-game special Feb. 2 on TNT.
Most of the starters in this game will be the usual suspects we are expecting to see, but a surprise or two could still take place between now and Thursday evening.
With that being said, let's take a look at the individual odds for each hopeful All-Star starter.
Eastern Conference Guards: Rajon Rondo
1 of 21Rondo was off to a great start to the season before his wrist injury cost him some valuable time.
Even if healthy, he's probably not popular enough to be voted in by the fans.
Odds: 500 to 1
Deron Williams
2 of 21Williams is no stranger to being an All-Star, but it looks like this season, he will have to hope for a spot as a reserve.
Odds: 300 to 1
Dwyane Wade
3 of 21Despite only playing in 11 games so far this season, it looks like Wade will find himself a starter in Orlando.
His numbers aren't as good as some guards in the East, and he's missed almost as many games as he's played, but he's still a worthy All-Star.
Because it's the fans' vote that will determine the starters, something shocking would have to happen for Wade not to be an Eastern Conference starter.
Odds: 5 to 1
Derrick Rose
4 of 21The reigning league MVP is a lock to be a starter. The only question is if he will finish as the top vote getter.
Odds: Even Money
Eastern Conference Forwards: Amar'e Stoudemire
5 of 21If this were a season ago, we would be talking about Stoudemire starting in the All-Star Game, but he's not really having a good season and the Knicks have another forward to take away his votes.
Odds: 1,000 to 1
Chris Bosh
6 of 21The Eastern Conference forwards were pretty much decided from day one, but if anyone could make a late charge, it could be Bosh feeding off the popularity of the Heat.
Don't count on it, though.
Odds: 500 to 1
Carmelo Anthony
7 of 21Despite getting booed on his home floor lately, the All-Star votes are still pouring in. Anthony will make his first Eastern Conference All-Star start.
Odds: Even Money
LeBron James
8 of 21Potentially the MVP of the first half, nothing can stop James from making another All-Star start.
Odds: Even Money
Eastern Conference Center: Joakim Noah
9 of 21If somehow Dwight Howard were traded to a Western Conference team before the All-Star Game, Noah would be the next highest vote getter.
That has no chance of happening, though, being that the game is being played in Orlando, but we will give Noah some odds anyway.
Odds: 2,500 to 1
Dwight Howard
10 of 21When it comes to Eastern Conference centers, there's Dwight Howard and everyone else.
Odds: Even Money
Western Conference Guards: Monta Ellis
11 of 21Ellis is among a good crop of Western Conference guards that deserve an All-Star berth, but he's got very little chance to start.
Playing in Golden State hurts his cause a little as well, since most fans are just voting on popularity and probably haven't heard of Ellis or seen him play.
Odds: 1,000 to 1
Kyle Lowry
12 of 21Lowry is quickly getting his name included in discussions about the top guards in the NBA, and deservedly so.
He's having a great year, but it won't lead to a starting spot on the Western Conference team.
Odds: 750 to 1
Russell Westbrook
13 of 21Westbrook's time as an All-Star starter will come; just not this season. He's having a solid season, but it's not translating into votes from the fans.
Odds: 500 to 1
Ricky Rubio
14 of 21Rubio is having a great beginning to his career, and while the other guys already listed are more deserving, if anyone's popularity can get him a bunch of late votes, it's Rubio.
There's way too much ground for the rookie to make up, though, and not enough time.
Odds: 300 to 1
Chris Paul
15 of 21Paul is second in the voting, and there is some distance between him and Rubio.
He would have likely been a starter without the trade, but All-Star weekend could be a big one for the Clippers.
Odds: Even Money
Kobe Bryant
16 of 21The NBA's leading scorer certainly is in the Western Conference's starting lineup.
Odds: Even Money
Western Conference Forwards: Kevin Love
17 of 21Love probably should be an All-Star starter, but unfortunately, he has no chance at all.
Pau Gasol is even over 100,000 votes ahead of him for fourth place in the voting, which is another reason why All-Star voting should be taken away from the fans in every sport.
Love is deserving, but has no chance
Odds: 750 to 1
Dirk Nowitzki
18 of 21If anyone can make the jump in the voting, it's Nowitzki who would need a miracle, but stranger things have happened.
He's not having an All-Star season, but has received almost more votes than Love and LaMarcus Aldridge combined.
Odds: 250 to 1
Blake Griffin
19 of 21Could the Los Angeles Clippers really have two All-Star starters?
It's all but certain that Paul will be joined by Griffin in the Western Conference starting lineup.
Lob City is coming to Orlando.
Odds: 10 to 1
Kevin Durant
20 of 21Durant is a no-brainer and as a deserving All-Star starter as it gets.
Western Conference Center: Andrew Bynum
21 of 21Bynum has over a 500,000-vote lead on DeAndre Jordan. It's not even worth giving odds for anyone else, but Bynum will be making his first All-Star start.
Odds: Even Money
