Evan Dunham Feels He Is 14-1, Not 13-2, Rematch with Sherk
When fighters suffer a controversial loss like Evan Dunham had against Sean Sherk at UFC 119, it takes them a little while to get over that.
Dunham lost his next fight to Melvin Guillard at the Fight for the Troops card last January, then rebounded with a win over Shamar Bailey at UFC Fight Night in September. Dunham (13-2 MMA, 6-2) now rides a two-fight winning streak as he rallied from early struggles in Round 1 to defeat Nik Lentz via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2.
Dunham had started the fight out slow, but as Round 1 wore on, he started to gain momentum with a couple of inside elbows and a takedown near the end of the round.
In Round 2, Dunham scored an early takedown, let go of a guillotine choke and landed some vicious ground-and-pound elbows and punches. Lentz had a terrible cut under his eye.
Doctors looked at the eye after the round had concluded and decided that Lentz could no longer continue, giving Dunham the victory.
We talk to Dunham as he talks about his victory over Nik Lentz, if he agreed with the doctor's stoppage, if he's over his controversial loss to Sean Sherk and much more.
Dunham on if he's over that loss to Sherk now that he's won two in a row: "Yea, I'm in a different mindset now. I really don't think I lost that fight. I don't believe, in my opinion, I'm not 13-2, I'm 14-1. I didn't lose that fight. I'm more than willing to fight him again to prove it. I'm just in a different mind frame now and I'm ready to fight."
