Which Players Will Say the Most Inflammatory Things on Super Bowl Media Day?
Nowadays, the Super Bowl has evolved into something more than just a football game. It essentially is a convention for NFL media, with endless player interviews throughout the week.
Eventually, someone on either team is going to say something noteworthy and the media is bound to take it out of context and stretch it into a story.
Here are the odds that these notable players will stir the pot during Super Bowl week.
1. Antrel Rolle: 85 Percent
1 of 10It doesn't matter how good or bad the Giants are playing, because Rolle runs his mouth just about every week. Just last week he was calling out Vernon Davis, saying "They better be careful what they ask for, because their wish has been granted" on 660 WFAN in New York.
Personally, I like it when players show their confidence like Rolle does, but it rubs a lot of fans and players the wrong way.
He will probably be under close supervision this week when he meets with the media, but it's only a matter of time before he blurts something out.
2. Brandon Jacobs: 75 Percent
2 of 10Between Rolle and Jacobs, the Giants sure do talk a lot for a team that prides itself on being the "anti-Jets."
Jacobs is vocal in just about everything he does, whether its calling Rex Ryan "fatboy" or publicly complaining about his role with the team.
Jacobs may have the lowest ratio of talking to importance to his team out of anyone in the NFL.
3. Osi Umenyiora: 60 Pecent
3 of 10It's not even the week before the Super Bowl, and Osi is already calling out members of the Patriots, referencing his lack of affection for Patriots tackle Matt Light.
This is hardly out of character for Osi, who has a history of sharing his contract disputes and issues concerning the coaching staff with the world.
4. Chad Ochocinco: 40 Percent
4 of 10With Chad finally in the Super Bowl for the first time, the media can rest easy knowing that they no longer have to compete with OCNN for breaking news all week long.
Chad has been relatively quiet in his humbling stint with the Patriots, but with all of the attention on his team for once, it may be too much to resist.
Whether he is even active for the game is irrelevant; his media day interview will be a must-watch.
5. Victor Cruz: 25 Percent
5 of 10Considering his success in his terrific breakout season, Cruz has been pretty humble. I put him on this list because with all of the overwhelming attention he is going to get this week, he could easily slip up and say something that will make Tom Coughlin fall out of his chair.
Plus, he has to be overwhelmingly excited about facing Julian Edelman in the slot.
Wes Welker: 15 Percent
6 of 10Welker probably learned his lesson from his hilarious jabs at Rex Ryan's foot fetish last year, but you never know if he has something else up his sleeve.
If Welker does talk, its going to be subtle and calculated.
Matt Light: 10 Percent
7 of 10Light probably won't say much, but the comments made by Osi earlier in the week may push him to respond.
He's probably still very bitter about the 2007 Super Bowl loss and may let his emotions get the best of him.
James Ihedigbo: 5 Percent
8 of 10To be honest, Ihedigbo is probably more interested in talking trash about his former team, the Jets, who did not want to match the Patriots offer in the offseason.
With a disastrous end to their 8-8 season and their two biggest rivals in the Super Bowl, 'tis the season to pour it on the Jets!
Tom Brady: 1 Percent
9 of 10Brady is well-versed in Belichick's "school of never saying anything to the media" and don't expect that to change in his shot at redemption against the Giants.
The last thing Brady needs is a fired-up Giants defensive line to give him flashbacks to Super Bowl XLII.
Eli Manning: 0 Percent
10 of 10There is only one man who has a lesser chance of talking smack than Tom Brady—that is Eli Manning.
With his "aw, shucks!" attitude, Manning is simply unflappable. The Patriots could egg his house in the middle of the night and he would just comment on how odd is was to see egg yolk dripping from his roof the next morning.
Eli is a great player, but media folk have low expectations going into an interview with him.
