Brian Schottenheimer to Rams: St. Louis Signs Former Jets OC
After allowing Josh McDaniels to return to the New England Patriots, the St. Louis Rams have brought in yet another high-profile offensive coordinator.
According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams have signed former New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to serve in the same position under new head coach Jeff Fisher. Depending on who is to be believed, Schottenheimer either left his position with the Jets willingly or was forced out by management.
While Schottenheimer is certainly a brand-name coordinator in the league, this was a poor move by Fisher and the Rams. Schottenheimer's offense grew stagnant in New York and quarterback Mark Sanchez simply didn't make significant enough strides during their time together.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Schottenheimer will now be charged with grooming another young quarterback in Sam Bradford, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft two years ago. Bradford had a spectacular rookie season in 2010 as he threw for over 3,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, but he and the Rams as a whole took a major step back this year.
St. Louis finished just 2-14 and Bradford was only able to play in 10 games due to injury. Schottenheimer will have to work magic with Bradford and an offense that features a porous line, an aging running back in Steven Jackson and a complete lack of weapons, particularly if wide receiver Brandon Lloyd isn't re-signed.
One of McDaniels' biggest issues was his disregard for offensive balance as he was a pass-first guy. Schottenheimer would seem to be more conservative, but he often abandoned the ground game while with the Jets. If he does that in St. Louis, then Bradford could be in for another rough season.
