5 Reasons Why Utah Jazz Forward Jeremy Evans Should Be in the NBA Dunk Contest
Jeremy Evans needs to be in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest this year.
Evans, the second year forward for the Utah Jazz, is as high flying a dunker as they come, and it would be great to see him show off his talents on the big stage.
Known in Utah as the "Human Pogo Stick," Evans is gaining a reputation for his above the rim play and raising the level of excitement whenever he gets onto the court.
Due to his abilities, there are rumblings in the state of Utah that Evans needs to be selected in the upcoming 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.
The following video slides will show the reasons why he would be a great candidate.
He Has Jumped over His Camaro
1 of 5In a recent interview, Jeremy Evans joked that he has a better vertical leap than Blake Griffin.
When asked if he had ever jumped over a Kia he said he has never tried, but that he has cleared the front end of his Camaro.
The Alley-Oop
2 of 5In Utah, Jeremy Evans is known for regularly being on the finishing end of the alley-oop.
The teammate who has thrown him the most alley-oops is back-up point guard Earl Watson. When the two hook up it is known as an "Early-Oop."
In this video, it is Jamal Tinsley who throws the long pass to Evans for the jam to give the Los Angeles Clippers their own taste of Lob City.
The Follow Slam
3 of 5In a recent game on the road against the Denver Nuggets, Jeremy Evans entered the game and quickly made his presence known.
This is just one example of the type of play that it seems like Evans makes at least once a game.
Even announcer Matt Harpring agrees that Evans needs to be in the Dunk Contest.
The Poster
4 of 5This is easily the most impressive in-game dunk of Jeremy Evans' short career.
In the second preseason game of the year against the Portland Trail Blazers, Evans takes a pass from Josh Howard and takes off for a dunk that could be hung on the wall as a poster.
Unfortunately the basket didn't count as he was called for a charge.
The Mix
5 of 5If the first four examples do not give you enough reason to add him to the Slam Dunk Contest, this one will.
This video is a highlight mix of Jeremy Evans' rookie season last year.
He has continued to impress this year, helping the surprising Jazz to success. Whenever Evans enters the game, he brings a spark to the team and excites the crowd.
Not bad for a player who has averaged less than 10 minutes per game both seasons of his career.
