Darrell Armstrong: Mavericks Assistant Arrested on an Outstanding Warrant
Eric BallJun 3, 2018
Players aren’t the only ones that can get arrested on the road.
Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested in Marina del Rey, Calif on Tuesday due to an outstanding warrant for non-sufficient funds in Las Vegas as first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Armstrong was pulled over by an officer for a routine traffic violation and was promptly arrested and booked into the sheriff’s station once the policemen became aware of the warrant.
Armstrong was released Wednesday afternoon after posting $40,000 bail, which was decided upon by the Nevada authorities in Nevada.
He is wanted by the Clark County district attorney’s office according to a statement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the Times he was pulled over near Washington Boulevard and Via Marina Way. The location is very close to the hotel where the Dallas Mavericks were staying at as they embark on a two-game road trip against both the Lakers and the Clippers.
Armstrong played in the NBA for 15 seasons, nine with the Orlando Magic, two with the New Orleans Hornets, two with the Dallas Mavericks and one with the Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets apiece.
The 6’1" point guard averaged 9.2 points, four assists and 2.7 rebounds in his career.
The 43-year-old has been an assistant with the Mavericks since retiring in 2008. He was a member of last season’s championship team.
It sounds like this is nothing more than an old debt that Armstrong had yet to pay up. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
