Super Bowl 2012: Stars from Each Remaining Team Who Would Bust on Super Sunday

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

This isn't a list you want to find yourself on. Luckily, I'm quite positive Joe Flacco won't be reading my articles anytime soon.

Oops, I just gave one away.

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

Flacco has been quite horrendous during his playoff career, and last week's performance against the Houston Texans didn't necessarily make me a believer.

Flacco failed to reach 200 yards for the seventh time in eight playoff games, but his defense bailed him out yet again.

Fortunately for him, he gets a soft defense in the Conference Championship that even he can exploit. If the Ravens make the Super Bowl, however, watch out.

Both the Giants and 49ers bring tons of pressure, similar to the Houston Texans. It won't be pretty for Flacco.

Mark Anderson, New England Patriots

All the Patriot offensive weapons really seem to step it up during the playoffs, so naturally, we turn to their porous defense.

Anderson isn't necessarily what you'd call a star, but he recorded 10 sacks on the season and is an integral part to this defense. If the Pats don't get a solid pass rush, they are going to be in trouble. That's what makes Anderson so important, especially with Andre Carter out.

Still though, Anderson was quiet against the Broncos and the Niners and Giants both know how to get the ball out quick.

Don't be surprised if Anderson turns into a non-factor on Super Sunday.

Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers

Gore didn't disappoint in his first-ever playoff game last week, as he racked up 89 yards on just 13 carries.

And while Alex Smith proved he is a capable quarterback, I think teams are simply going to live with letting Smith throw constantly.

Gore played in just 16 games for the second time in his career this season, and now he's adding a postseason run and a stuffed box. Don't be surprised if he doesn't hold up for two more games.

Eli Manning, New York Giants

Manning has a lot of playoff experience and has even won a Super Bowl, but he's been quite inconsistent in the playoffs.

He's had five games (out of nine) in which he has failed to reach 200 yards. He's also thrown multiple interceptions in two of those and zero touchdowns in three.

Of course, he's also sprinkled in some amazing performances, including two this season. He's clearly playing the best football of his life right now, but I'm not exactly going to trust him against a defense like Baltimore's.

I'm not saying Manning is going to throw for 100 yards and three interceptions, but don't be surprised if he throws a costly interception or two at the worst moment.
