Tim Tebow Critics Make Baseless Attacks Against the Denver Broncos Quarterback

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

After Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos got absolutely shelled last night at the hands of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, 45-10, the hate parade will be marching through Denver and going after Tebow in the process.

Blame will no doubt be placed on Tebow and his critics will say, "see, I told you he isn't a franchise quarterback!"

I guess they expect Tebow to play defense as well. It's as if Tebow allowed 45 points and not his defense.

A brilliant argument as always and it's the type of baseless attack that you'd expect with the conclusion of the Broncos' season coming earlier than most fans had hoped.

So why is it baseless?

His critics will always point to his inability to make throws and the lack of big-play ability for Denver with Tebow under center. They leave no possibility for improvement and the only solution must be taking the job from him.

What they won't tell you is that the 2011-12 season was the first full one under the belt of Tebow. That's right, he was basically a rookie this season and other than a flash of playing time last season, he hasn't had nearly enough experience to count him out yet.

Furthermore, to compound his problems and inexperience at the pro level, Tebow didn't have nearly enough time with his coaches before the season started to even have a chance to have a good showing in his inaugural campaign in the NFL.

It's hard enough for a rookie quarterback to make the plays necessary to win, but it's even harder when his preparation time during the offseason is cut extremely short.

For whatever reason, whether it's religion, "Tebowing" or a downright disgust with Tebow's incredible popularity, these arguments will fall on deaf ears. It's the type of irrational hatred that we've seen this season for a young quarterback trying to find his way in the NFL.

All I say is this: Tebow needs more time before we consider him a failure. He needs the proper grooming periods that every young quarterback is afforded in a normal, non-lockout season. Clearly, he doesn't have a natural knack for the game that some quarterbacks are born with. Tebow is a work in progress.

Next season, with a full dose of training camp and more time with his coaches, the expectations of Tebow should be greater. We should expect to see improvements from this season moving forward.

If he doesn't improve, the argument against Tebow would become more valid. But until then, it's just an unfair attack.

Tebow has faced this kind of adversity before, so if you're a supporter, don't feel bad for the guy. He feeds off people telling him he can't do something and that's been a trend in his life since the day he was born.

It's never stopped him before, and I don't think he's going to allow it to stop him now.
