What’s at Stake?

Duke always has plans to win the ACC regular-season title every season. If they plan on keeping pace with North Carolina, winning on the road against an inferior opponent that they have dominated in the past is paramount.

You can’t let games like this slip away even if it’s on the road in a tough, Littlejohn atmosphere.

Clemson is coming off a performance against Boston College that they wish they could forget. The Tigers shot 39 percent (20-51). If they plan on sticking with Duke, the Tigers shooters are going to have to knock down whatever open shots they get against a physical man-to-man defense.

At 9-7, Clemson needs to add any resume-building victory they can to push towards a NCAA Tournament bid. In the ACC, a conference with three ranked teams, these opportunities won’t come often.

What They’re Saying

Head coach Brad Brownell realizes that Clemson can’t execute as poorly as they did against Boston College.

"We just have to make sure we're mature enough to have the same resolve after we've won a big game," Mike Krzyzewski said, according to CBSSports.com. "That's what our Duke teams have done over the years. They've not won one game but multiple games after they won a big game.

"Hopefully, we can teach this group to do that. If we're able to knock off Clemson, the experience of doing that will be great."

Tigers Player to Watch: Andre Young

Andre Young is an experienced guard who leads the Tigers in points (13.1) and is second in assists (3.4). He is a veteran guard who has tallied up at least 20 minutes per game in the past three seasons. There have been only four games this season when he didn’t score in double-digits.

Blue Devils Player to Watch: Seth Curry

In Duke’s two losses, Curry has scored 13 combined points on 5-for-13 shooting. Duke can live and die by the three-ball, and Curry steers the train. Most of his shots come from behind the line where he shoots 41.3 percent.

When he’s not hitting his shots, it can tend to have a trickling impact to the rest of his team.

Key Matchup: Devin Booker vs. Big men from Duke

Mason and Miles Plumlee along with Ryan Kelly, give Duke an advantage down low even if it’s not showing up in rebounding statistics. They have the size that is capable of making an impact.

Devin Booker leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.6 per game. He has only scored 14 points in the past two games compared to 51 in the previous three.

Booker will need to be much more active against the Blue Devils to control the paint. He is one of the best athletes on the team and he’s going to need every aspect of his athleticism to show on Sunday.

Of course, he will need some help, and that’s where Milton Jennings comes in. The junior averages 5.7 rebounds per game.

Prediction: Duke 78, Clemson 69

It’s clear that Duke has the better team this season. That doesn’t mean too much, especially on the road, in conference play, but their talent should conquer all when this is all said and done.

Duke will improve their record to 104-29 against Clemson.
