Chris Bosh: Heat Star Accurately Identifies Dwyane Wade as Team's Go-to Guy
Of the Miami Heat's Big 3, only Dwyane Wade has won a title. Not only did he win that title, but he was the Finals' MVP in the process. So, when Chris Bosh told Mark Anthony Green of GQ Magazine that all things being equal, Wade would get the ball if the team needed a basket, Bosh was making perfect sense.
Neither Bosh nor LeBron James has earned the benefit of the doubt, not when they're on the court with Wade. Yes, you can call up some clutch moments that either one has had, but none of those equals what Wade has done in the past. Bosh agrees.
""Because of his success in the past, given what he's done. He's a champ. He's an MVP, and he's hit a bunch of last-second shots. That's the time you have to put pride aside a little bit, and do what's best for the team. He's quickest, and he's gonna get a shot off. He relishes those moments."
"
For as much as LeBron and Bosh have done in their careers, it's hard to watch either and say that they would want that shot. I am not beating them up for past chokes, but they've happened; and unlike Wade, neither of those two has the history that Wade has of coming through in the clutch.
For an opponent, there is no sight more frightening than D-Wade with the ball, and that's exactly why you want the game in his hands.
Wade's not afraid to fail. He's come through in too many big spots in the past to possibly argue that point. So, as an opponent, you don't want a fearless player taking a shot that would beat you. That person has nothing else going through his mind.
He's not worried about what's going to be said if he misses. The only focus at that moment is getting the ball in the basket. With LeBron and to a lesser extent Bosh, there's negative baggage.
If one of them misses a potential game winning shot, it's all over the Internet, television and newspapers within five minutes. It's being analyzed closely. I know that and more importantly, the man with the ball in his hands knows that. Until that title is won, that's going to be the case.
The stats of either James or Bosh wouldn't matter in that spot. Raw talent is nice but when it comes to making a winning shot, you need to have the right mindset. There's no doubt that Wade has that.
