Eric Dickerson Clarifies Saquon Barkley Comments: 'I Would Never Hate on Another RB'
Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson says he supports fellow running backs while maintaining that he doesn't want Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley to break his single-season rushing yards record.
"I love running backs, I'm a running back. ... I would never hate on another running back. That's not me," Dickerson said in a video shared by TMZ Sports on Thursday.
Dickerson continued: "Of course, if he broke the record, brother, I ain't gonna lose no sleep over that. But am I cheering for somebody breaking my record? No, I'm not. I don't think anybody does. If you have a record, and you want somebody to break it, that's on you. I'm different."

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced on Wednesday that Barkley will not play in Week 18 against the New York Giants, leaving him 100 yards shy of the record Dickerson set in 1984.
Dickerson's statement comes after he recently told USA Today's Jarrett Bell that he had "absolutely not" changed his stance on not wanting Barkley to break the record.
He also pointed out to the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer that Barkley had 17 games to set the record, as opposed to the 16-game season he played in 1984.
Dickerson was then called out by former running back LeSean McCoy, who recently said on Fox Sports' The Facility that running backs should "stick together."
Dickerson said when speaking to TMZ Sports that it was fair for him to comment on Barkley's longer season, because he had previously acknowledged it took him one extra game to break O.J. Simpson's single-season rushing yards record. Simpson set the previous standard in 14 games, while Dickerson broke the record in 15.
Had Barkley been able to play on Saturday, it would have marked his 17th game of the season. With the Eagles already having clinched the NFC East title on Sunday, Sirianni ultimately decided to rest his starters ahead of the playoffs and leave Barkley 101 yards shy of NFL history.
