Cowboys Rumors: Dak Prescott Plans to Have Season-Ending Surgery on Hamstring Injury
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott "is planning to undergo season-ending surgery on his partially torn hamstring, pending the opinion of one final specialist," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter added that Prescott will meet with the specialist in New York, "but Cowboys doctors already believe he needs the surgery that would sideline him four months."
The Cowboys did not place Prescott on injured reserve Saturday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Prescott suffered the hamstring injury during Dallas' Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
ESPN's Todd Archer reported on Wednesday the quarterback would likely "need a longer recovery period than four weeks" since the injury was a "partial avulsion of his right hamstring, which means part of the tendon has pulled away from the bone."
The timing couldn't have been much worse for a Dallas team that fell to 3-5 with the loss to the Falcons and looked nothing like a true contender in the NFC.
After all, Prescott just led the league with 36 touchdown passes while appearing in all 17 games in 2023 and was expected to once again lead the team into contention in 2024.
The Cowboys turned to Cooper Rush when Prescott exited the loss to the Falcons and will surely continue doing so while the starter is sidelined.
Rush went 4-1 as a starter in 2022, although he completed just 58 percent of his passes for five touchdowns and three interceptions that season. It isn't realistic to expect him to perform at the same level as Prescott, but he will look to keep the team afloat in the meantime.
