Michigan's Loveland Disses MSU After Fight: 'Lil Bro Stay Doing Little Bro Things'
It has largely been a disappointing season for the Michigan Wolverines, but they earned the right to talk trash to their rivals after defeating Michigan State 24-17 on Saturday.
And talk trash they did, especially after a fight broke out in the final seconds of the win.
"Lil bro stay doing little bro things," Michigan tight end Colston Loveland told Big Ten Network in his postgame interview (h/t Larry Lage of the Associated Press). "So, MSU is the little bro. They can do whatever they want. We knew it was going to get chippy. Everything within the confines of the game, we do right. And then after if they want to get busy, we'll get busy."
Lage noted Loveland was directly involved in the skirmish, as he and Michigan State defensive end Anthony Jones shoved each other before players from both teams got together.
"I told the team that was unacceptable," Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said.
This is nothing new for these teams, as they also fought inside the tunnel two years ago. As Lage noted, the Big Ten fined Michigan State $100,000 for the incident and publicly reprimanded Michigan for not providing enough protection with its tunnel setup.
As for Saturday, there was surely some frustration for the season as a whole that boiled over for both teams.
The Spartans are just 4-4 and have blowout losses to Oregon and Ohio State on their resume. And the Wolverines will not be defending their national title following a 5-3 start that features double-digit losses to Texas, Washington and Illinois.
It likely won't get much better for Michigan either considering it still plays Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State in its final four games.
But it at least earned state bragging rights with Saturday's performance, and Loveland made sure to let the Spartans know about it in the aftermath.
