Davante Adams Trade Rumors: Execs Say Jets Favored for Raiders WR; 'Nothing Imminent'
The New York Jets are reportedly considered the favorites to land star wide receiver Davante Adams in a trade by those in NFL circles.
During an appearance Saturday on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that the Jets are viewed as the team to beat in the Adams sweepstakes, although no trade is "imminent" yet:
"I've talked to multiple league execs who believe the Jets will be frontrunners here eventually, because of the Aaron Rodgers connection, that they'll try to get this done. It's Week 5, the Jets are in London right now, there's certainly nothing imminent. So, things could heat up with the Raiders in the next week or two."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported this week that Adams wants to be traded and prefers a move to the Jets where he would be reunited with his former Green Bay Packers teammate in Aaron Rodgers.
However, Rapoport also named the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers as teams that have either checked in on Adams or teams that Adams would be happy to play for.
Adams and Rodgers spent eight seasons as teammates in Green Bay from 2014 to 2021, and they enjoyed a ton of success together during that timeframe.
From 2018 to 2021, Adams had at least 110 catches, 1,300 receiving yards and double-digit receiving touchdowns in three of four seasons with Rodgers throwing him the ball.
Adams had a career-high 18 touchdown catches in 2020, and he followed that up with career highs in receptions (123) and receiving yards (1,553) in 2021. Rodgers happened to win the NFL MVP Award in each of those two seasons.
After missing his entire first season with the Jets due to a torn Achilles, the 40-year-old Rodgers has New York off to a 2-2 start this season.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Jets have been operating as if they are "all-in" on acquiring Adams, as they have been in contact with the Raiders throughout the week.
Russini added that Rodgers has made it clear to Jets owner Woody Johnson, general manager Joe Douglas and coach Robert Saleh that he wants Adams on the team, although she doesn't get the sense that the Jets are "anxious" to get a trade done as soon as possible.
While multiple reports have suggested that Adams wants to wind up in New York, Russini did note that he has at least some apprehension due to concerns about whether Rodgers plans to remain with the Jets beyond this season.
Adams, who is currently dealing with a hamstring injury that will keep him out of the Raiders' Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos, is signed through 2026 as part of the five-year, $140 million contract he signed with the Raiders in 2022.
According to Fowler, the team that trades for Adams will have to pay him $1 million per week, which is a significant financial burden to take on at this point in he season. As a result, the acquiring team may need the Raiders to eat some of his salary.
Should the Jets ultimately get a deal done, it would give them a receiving corps of Adams, Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard and Mike Williams, which would arguably be the best in the NFL.
The Jets are clearly in win-now mode with a 40-year-old veteran at quarterback, and acquiring Adams would be a win-now move meant to get them back in the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
