NFL Rumors: Packers Speak to Ryan Tannehill After Jordan Love Injury; No Contract Yet
The Green Bay Packers "reached out" to free agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill following Jordan Love's reported MCL strain, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Russini noted that there is currently no deal in place with the former Tennessee Titans quarterback.
The report was disputed by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who reported that the Packers "have not reached out and are not expected to pursue any veteran quarterbacks, including Ryan Tannehill."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
"The team expects Jordan Love back on the sooner end of the initial 3-6 week timeline and are focused on preparing Malik Willis and Sean Clifford," Pelissero wrote.
Pelissero initially reported that Love was expected to miss between three and six weeks after he was injured Friday in the Packers' season opener.
Tannehill, who has made 151 career starts over 11 NFL seasons, would be a more experienced option to replace Love than the Packers' current backup Wilis.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Tannehill has "been the subject of calls from interested teams over the course of the offseason."
"What would it take for him to leave his family and go play one more season? Essentially, the perfect opportunity," Rapoport wrote. "Sources say it would take a playoff contender in need of a quarterback, a team with a strong offensive line and offensive weapons. The money also would have to be right."
Rapoport continued: "Tannehill has been throwing to local receivers, sources say, and is in shape. But he's going to be patient for the right chance, if one comes at all."
Tannehill said earlier this offseason on The Athletic's Scoop City podcast with Russini and Chase Daniel (h/t the Nashville Post's John Glennon) that he was "staying in shape and staying ready if the right thing pops up and comes available."
"Nothing really felt right through free agency and through that, I had a lot of peace with it," Tannehill told Russini and Daniel. "Nothing outstanding jumped up, so I just said, 'Hey, I'll take a step back, and if something comes up on down the road.'"
Tannehill continued: "Whether that's training camp, maybe a guy goes down on a team and [the team] gives me a call, you never know what's going to happen. So, just keeping the options open."
Tannehill started six games for the Titans in 2023 before he was sidelined for Week 7 with an ankle injury. He had gone 98-of-158 for 1,128 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions at the time.
Rookie quarterback Will Levis stepped up and won the starting job in Tannehill's absence.
Although the veteran quarterback came back to make two starts at the end of the season, it seemed clear the Titans considered Levis their quarterback of the future. Tannehill was not re-signed by the Titans following the expiration of his previous four-year, $118 million deal this spring.
The Packers added Malik Willis in late August after previously-slated QB2 Sean Clifford struggled during the preseason.
Tannehill may have struggled with pass accuracy in his final starting campaign for the Titans, but he would bring more experience to the role than either Willis or Clifford. That could potentially make him an attractive target for the Packers as the team prepares for Week 2 without their starting quarterback.
