Jets' Aaron Rodgers: I Hope Leonard Floyd Doesn't Feel Responsible for My Injury
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn't believe that San Francisco 49ers defensive end Leonard Floyd should feel responsible for his season-ending Achilles injury in 2023.
"He's a great player," Rodgers told reporters on Thursday, via SNY (h/t Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team). "I hope he doesn't feel in any way responsible for that at all."
Floyd was a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2023, sacking Rodgers during a Week 1 matchup between the two teams that ultimately resulted in the quarterback's injury.

Floyd recounted the incident during a Tuesday appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, revealing that he initially didn't know Rodgers was hurt.
"What I remember is just getting the sack, man," Floyd said (h/t Taylor Wirth of NBC Sports Bay Area). "That's what I remember. And after the sack, I pretty much didn't know he was hurt or whatever. I just remember playing football, just a regular play. Getting a sack on a quarterback, grabbing him, bringing him down."
"He ended up getting hurt and I felt bad he got hurt because I always wanted to play against him," he added.
Floyd joined the 49ers on a two-year, $20 million contract in free agency. The former No. 9 overall pick in the 2016 draft has developed into a consistent pass-rusher, recording at least nine sacks in each of the past four seasons. He'll look to contribute on a San Francisco defense that finished in a tie for the seventh-most sacks among NFL teams in 2023.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has recovered from his Achilles injury and is set to start under center in Week 1. The four-time MVP will attempt to lead the Jets to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season.
Rodgers and Floyd will share the field once again in the season-opening clash between New York and San Francisco on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. ET.
