Eagles Rumors: James Bradberry Unlikely to Be Cut After Titans Trade Talks
Philadelphia Eagles defensive back James Bradberry was the subject of trade talks this offseason, but it sounds like the team will hold onto him beyond Tuesday's roster cuts deadline.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Bradberry "is likely to survive today's cuts." The Eagles reportedly "spoke to some teams about a possible trade," including the Tennessee Titans.
Bradberry, who has spent his career as a cornerback, has been working on transitioning to safety this offseason. McLane reported that the shift for the 31-year-old "has been slow," but "he's not viewed as an outside CB by most anymore."

However, McLane noted that Bradberry had a "fan" in Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who served as defensive backs coach for the Eagles during Bradberry's first year in Philadelphia in 2022. McLane explained that the situation is fluid, adding that "something could shake loose in the next week that would affect Bradberry's standing on the 53-man roster."
Bradberry started 16 games in 2023 and recorded 54 total tackles, 13 passes defended, an interception and a fumble recovery. Still, the Eagles made a point to get younger at the cornerback position this offseason.
Philadelphia selected Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell with the No. 22 pick in the 2024 draft and Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean with a second-round pick. 2023 fourth-round pick Kelee Ringo is also in the mix to start on the outside opposite six-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay Jr.
The Eagles are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing end to the 2023 season, so keeping Bradberry in the fold provides the team with some continuity and a veteran presence on defense who should be able to fill in when called upon.
