Scottie Scheffler: I Don't Feel a Target on My Back at 2024 US Open
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has been on a roll with five victories in his last eight starts, but he's not feeling any pressure heading into this weekend's US Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
Per ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Scheffler said he isn't concerned about anyone focused on him as he chases his third major championship.
"As far as a target on my back, even if there was, there's really not much we can do in the game of golf," Scheffler said. "Most of it is against the golf course and playing against yourself. Target on my back, I don't really feel it, and I don't really think about it much, no."
Scheffler is just the fourth PGA Tour golfer in the last 60 seasons to have five wins before the end of June, joining Tiger Woods (2000), Tom Watson (1980) and Johnny Miller (1974), per Schlabach. He most recently earned a one-stroke victory at the Memorial Tournament last week.
The last golfer to earn five wins in a season was Justin Thomas in 2016-17, and Scheffler has already matched that. He is looking to become the first golfer to win six times on tour since Woods in 2009.
Scheffler will be paired with 2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele and four-time major champion Rory McIlroy when the US Open begins on Thursday. The star-studded trio will tee off at 1:14 p.m. ET in the first round and at 7:29 a.m. ET in the second.
