Chris Jericho Beats Hook, Shibata to Retain AEW FTW Title at Double or Nothing 2024

Chris Jericho defeated Hook and Katsuyori Shibata in a three-way FTW Rules match at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday to retain the FTW Championship.

Jericho won after a masked man (who turned out to be Bryan Keith) attacked Hook and Shibata:

The spot of the match went to Hook, though, who tossed an interfering Big Bill off the mat and through a table below.

Jericho won the FTW title last month at Dynasty when he beat Hook after previously taking the son of AEW commentator Taz under his wing.

While Jericho seemingly had good intentions at first, he showed his true colors when he felt Hook wasn't listening to him and wasn't showing a proper appreciation for his guidance.

That led to Jericho facing and beating Hook for the FTW title at Dynasty, and it only served to make Jericho even more full of himself.

The former AEW world champion began referring to himself as "The Learning Tree," and he was able to use his propaganda to reel in Big Bill, who became something of a pupil and a bodyguard for Jericho.

Jericho also changed the meaning of the FTW Championship from "F--k The World" to "For The World," as he claimed that the title belonged to not only him, but also all of his fans.

While doing all of that, Jericho seemed to be sidestepping a rematch with Hook, which led to a three-way match to determine Jericho's opponent at Double or Nothing.

The bout featured Bryan Keith, Hook and Shibata, the latter of whom teamed with both Jericho and Hook on multiple occasions.

Both Hook and Shibata locked Keith into a submission hold at the same time and made him tap, so Hook and Shibata were named co-winners of the match, meaning Jericho would have to defend against both of them.

The odds were stacked against Jericho with both Hook and Shibata wanting to make The Demo God pay for his antics and take the FTW title in the process, but Jericho was victorious and managed to keep his championship reign intact.
