David Andrews Calls Out Potential Drew Lock Narrative After Sam Darnold Injury in Patriots-Seahawks

Former New England Patriots center David Andrews wasn't looking forward to a potential narrative that might surround the team after facing Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock in a season-opening matchup on Wednesday.

Andrews sarcastically wrote that he "can't wait for the media storm" after a possible Patriots victory containing the narrative that they only won because they played Lock in a post on X.

Seahawks starting quarterback Sam Darnold was only on the field for the team's opening drive before he was ruled out for the rest of the game due to a hip injury.

New England led 7-0 at halftime.

The contest represented a Super Bowl LX rematch, as the Seahawks previously defeated the Patriots by the final score of 29-13 to capture a championship last season.

New England finished with a 14-3 record and won the AFC East during its 2025 campaign.

The Patriots' opponents owned a .391 win percentage last season, the easiest mark among all teams. Their strength of schedule became a topic that generated buzz throughout the year.

New England also faced Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham in last season's AFC Championship Game after Broncos starter Bo Nix suffered an ankle injury in the divisional round of the playoffs.

It's worth noting that the Patriots played starting quarterbacks Justin Herbert and CJ Stroud in the first two rounds of the postseason, though.

New England's schedule will be more difficult this year, as the team's opponents owned a combined .531 win percentage last season to represent the sixth-hardest 2026 slate in the NFL.

Still, Andrews isn't looking forward to the way the Patriots could be viewed if they take down a Seahawks squad primarily led by Lock to open the season.
