Toni Storm Beats Serena Deeb to Retain AEW Women's Title at Double or Nothing 2024

Toni Storm defeated Serena Deeb at Double or Nothing on Sunday night to retain the AEW Women's World Championship.

Storm hit Deeb with a pair of successive Storm Zeroes (with the first off the top rope) for the victory.

Storm entered Double or Nothing having held the title for over six months straight, and she beat many of the top stars in the AEW women's division along the way to extend her reign.

"Timeless" Toni took down the likes of Thunder Rosa, Deonna Purrazzo, Riho and Skye Blue, but it can be argued that Deeb represented her toughest challenge from an in-ring perspective.

Deeb is a nearly 20-year veteran in the wrestling business and a former NWA world women's champion, but she had never held a title in AEW ahead of Sunday's match.

Serena was making headway in her pursuit of a championship for quite some time, but an injury put her out of commission in late 2022 and she did not return to action until January 2024.

Over the next several weeks, Deeb went on a roll, racking up wins over the likes of Queen Aminata, Lady Frost and Trish Adora among others. That led to her getting the chance to compete for a title opportunity.

On the May 1 episode of Dynamite, Serena faced Storm's biggest fan and supporter in Mariah May in what amounted to a de facto No. 1 contender's match.

In the latter stages of the contest, Deeb locked May into a half crab, and with May having now way to escape, Storm threw in the towel. It was then announced that Serena would indeed get a title match against Storm at Double or Nothing.

Toni has arguably been the most successful women's wrestler in AEW history with three world title reigns to her credit, but she had never gone up against a veteran as well-traveled as Serena.

Deeb gave her everything she could handle, but Storm came out on top again and showed why she has been the face of the AEW women's division for much of her time with the company.
