Cowboys 2024 NFL Draft Trade Scenarios, Prospects to Watch Outlined by Insider
As the Dallas Cowboys make their final preparations for the2024 NFL draft, the potential scenarios being considered for the first three rounds have been revealed.
Per NFL Network's Jane Slater, the Cowboys could look to trade up in the first round if one of their preferred offensive line options—Graham Barton, Tyler Guyton and Amarius Mims are cited as potential targets—starts to fall.

Running back Jonathon Brooks was also cited as an option, along with offensive linemen in rounds two and three, if the Cowboys decide to trade down because they don't like available choices in the first round.
Barton, in particular, seems to be a player the Cowboys are keeping a close eye on. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported on Monday the Duke standout would be a logical fit based on the team's "track record of success (Zack Martin, Travis Frederick) taking interior linemen high."
The Cowboys do have to replace two starters on the offensive line after losing Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz in free agency. They are also in the market for running backs with Tony Pollard signing with Tennessee Titans as a free agent.
Dallas didn't do a good job of addressing any of those needs via free agency. Swing tackle Chuma Edoga re-signed with the club, but he has never started more than eight games in a season in his five-year NFL career.
Rico Dowdle and Royce Freeman were the only free-agent running backs the team signed.
Trading in the first round isn't something the Cowboys have done a lot recently. The only time they have moved off their original spot in the previous four drafts was in 2021 when they made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to drop two spots.
That deal worked out great for the Cowboys because they selected Micah Parsons at No. 12 overall.
Given the depth of offensive linemen in this class, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Cowboys decided to move down and add more draft capital. B/R's NFL scouting department has 14 linemen ranked among the top 51 prospects.
Dallas owns seven picks in the 2024 draft, including one in each of the first three rounds. After its pick at No. 87 overall, the team won't come on the clock again until No. 174 in the fifth round.
