Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers Out vs. Mariners; Scratched from Lineup with Shoulder Injury
The Boston Red Sox announced that third baseman Rafael Devers has been scratched from his team's Friday night lineup against the host Seattle Mariners. Bobby Dalbec will handle the hot corner in his place.
Per Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe, Devers is dealing with a sore left shoulder.
Devers took part in the team's 6-4 Opening Day win at Seattle the night before, going 2-for-5 with a two-run homer.

10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️
Obviously, the Red Sox need Devers back as soon as possible.
The 27-year-old Devers is Boston's star. Last season, he amassed 33 home runs and 100 RBI alongside a .271 batting average (.851 OPS). This is his eighth year in Boston, and he's earned two All-Star Game appearances and two Silver Slugger awards.
Boston didn't make many offseason moves, and the team is widely projected to finish last in the American League East even with Devers at third.
For now, Dalbec is the choice at third. He's been in town for five years and his best known for a breakout 25-homer season in 2021, when he added 78 RBI and a .792 OPS in 133 games.
He hasn't found that magic since, to the point where he spent most of 2023 in Triple-A Worcester. But he made the big league club out of spring training and has another chance now to make a good impression.
