Bucks' Patrick Beverley to Play Through Wrist Injury; Was Set to Miss 3-4 Months

Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley announced on The Pat Bev Pod that he'll play through the remainder of the regular season with a wrist injury and won't miss any further time.

During Wednesday's edition of the podcast, Beverley revealed that he has a torn ligament in his right wrist. He added that the injury would require surgery, which should sideline him for three to four months.

Beverley previously played just 15 minutes during Milwaukee's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday before missing the team's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

Beverley's choice to play through the injury stems from his desire to win a championship, as the Bucks currently own the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 46-26.

"I got to get me a championship this year," Beverley said. "Straight up. I have to."

Milwaukee has already won one title with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, defeating the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals.

Beverley was originally listed as questionable on the team's injury report, although he was upgraded to probable ahead of the Bucks' clash with the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.

The defensive-minded guard was acquired by the organization in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 8, as Milwaukee sent out guard Cameron Payne and a 2027 second-round pick in return.

Before the Beverley deal, the Bucks' defensive rating of 116.7 ranked No. 19 among all teams (via NBA.com). Since he debuted with the organization on Feb. 9, Milwaukee's 110.6 defensive rating ranks No. 6 in the Association.

In 19 total appearances with the team, Beverley is averaging 5.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from three. If he can manage his wrist injury and increase his efficiency, he'll help the Bucks go on another postseason run after a shocking first-round exit in 2023.
