Lakers' LeBron James Doubtful vs. Bucks with Ankle Injury amid NBA Playoff Race
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been listed as doubtful on the injury report due to ankle soreness ahead of Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
The official report lists the injury as a left ankle peroneal tendinopathy.
James' left ankle issues have been ongoing for months and the last game he missed was March 8, also against the Bucks.
James, who is averaging 25.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game this season, played 38 minutes in a 150-145 win over the Indiana Pacers Sunday night, scoring 26 points and notching 10 assists.
Earlier in March, McMenamin reported that a source familiar with James' injury said the ankle issues are being caused by "wear and tear" for the 21-year veteran.
While it might not be a serious injury, the Lakers are hoping to get James as healthy as possible before the end of the season as they look to go on a deep playoff run.
Los Angeles currently sits in ninth place in the Western Conference at 39-32. The Lakers are 2.5 games behind the eight-seeded Dallas Mavericks and are three games behind the six-seeded Phoenix Suns. Los Angeles would like to go on a big run to end the season to try and get into sixth place and avoid a Play-In game, but it has some work to do.
Still, the Lakers hold a decent position against the Golden State Warriors, who are behind them in 10th place in the West at 36-34. A win over Milwaukee on Tuesday would help Los Angeles maintain its position.
With James likely out of Tuesday's matchup, the Lakers will look to Anthony Davis and Co. to handle business.
