Lakers' Anthony Davis Out vs. Stephen Curry, Warriors After Suffering Eye Injury
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's game against the Golden State Warriors after suffering an eye contusion, the team announced, according to The Athletic's Jovan Buha.
The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania reported that Davis suffered a corneal abrasion.
ESPN's Dave McMenamin added after the Warriors' 128-121 win over the Lakers that "Davis' vision was impaired and his eye was swollen shut after the contact." He is being monitored overnight and into Sunday to determine his availability for Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, McMenamin added.

How NBA Playoffs Exposing Terrible Trades and Contracts 😬
Davis was inadvertently poked in the eye by Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis while driving to the basket in the first quarter. He notched eight points, four rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes before exiting.
Durability hasn't been an issue for Davis this season, who has appeared in the most games he has since he played 62 in 2019-20. However, he most recently missed a Jan. 30 loss to the Atlanta Hawks and a Feb. 1 win over the Boston Celtics due to hip and Achilles injuries.
The 31-year-old has been dealing with hip issues since November, which isn't a good sign for the Lakers as they aim to rise in the standings and become a playoff contender.
The Purple and Gold have struggled mightily this year and sit ninth in the Western Conference with a 36-31 record.
While the team has struggled as a whole, Davis is putting together a solid season, averaging 24.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.4 blocks in 63 games while shooting 55.2 percent from the floor and 26.3 percent from deep.
If the Lakers are going to make a push for the playoffs, they're going to need Davis to remain healthy alongside LeBron James.
That said, the team needs some of its other players to step up, such as D'Angelo Russell and Spencer Dinwiddie, if they truly hope to contend with the likes of the Minnesota Timberwolves and reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets.
