NFL Rumors: Bill Belichick 'Viewed as a Long Shot' for Commanders, Seahawks HC Jobs
The Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders are the last two teams remaining with head coaching vacancies, but it sounds like neither is interested in one of the greatest coaches of all time.
The Athletic's Jeff Howe and Steve Buckley reported on Thursday that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick "is viewed as a long shot" for both the Seahawks and Commanders openings.
After the Atlanta Falcons hired Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their next head coach Thursday, there appears to be a likelihood that Belichick will not be coaching in 2024. The Falcons were the only team he interviewed with, which came as a surprise since he was expected to be one of the most coveted candidates on the market this offseason.

Six head coaching vacancies have already been filled. Howe and Buckley noted that "it would take a change of direction for something to happen" for Belichick to now be considered by the Commanders or Seahawks.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported earlier this month that the Commanders weren't interested in Belichick despite previous speculation otherwise.
Belichick mutually parted ways with the New England Patriots after finishing the 2023 season with a 4-13 record. In 24 years with the team, he won six Super Bowls and his 333 career wins are just 15 away from passing Don Shula's all-time record of 347.
The 71-year-old has been a part of an NFL coaching staff since 1975, so his 49-year streak would end if he doesn't coach in any capacity in 2024.
Belichick likely would be a top candidate in next year's coaching cycle if he's forced to sit out next season.
