The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly requested a second interview with Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Falcons announced that they completed the first interview with Ejiro on Jan. 14, and it appears that he's impressed Atlanta's executives enough to warrant a second one.

The team has met with several other notable candidates for the vacancy. This includes Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who has reportedly been booked for a second interview, via ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

The Falcons have also interviewed Bill Belichick twice following a legendary career with the New England Patriots, meeting with team owner Arthur Blank in person, per Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.

Evero is also expected to have a second interview with the Panthers as well as the Seattle Seahawks, per Pelissero. Despite his role as a coordinator on a team that finished with a paltry 2-15 record, the 43-year-old has shown more than enough during his past few years on the sidelines to earn a promotion.

The Panthers allowed just 293.9 yards per game in 2023, the fourth-best mark in the NFL in spite of the team's overall struggles. Carolina also owned the No. 3 pass defense in the league.

Evero spent the 2022 season as the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, experiencing similar levels of success. The Broncos gave up 320.0 yards per game, good enough for the No. 7 spot among all teams. In 2023 after he left for Carolina, Denver allowed a whopping 370.8 yards each week which representing the fourth-worst average in the NFL.

He spent time as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, learning under famed defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Evero would likely improve a Falcons defense that allowed 85 points in the final two weeks of the regular season, causing the team to miss the playoffs.

His competition is stiff for Atlanta's job, but he'll likely be coaching an NFL team soon given the high interest in his services around the league.
