Brazil defeated the United States women's national soccer team 2-1 on Saturday in an international exhibition at São Paulo, Brazil's Neo Química Arena.
Sophia Wilson struck first for the United States in the second minute with a left-footed shot outside the box. Trinity Rodman sparked the opener after creating a turnover and finding Wilson, who did the rest.
However, Brazil fired back with two quick goals in the 11th and 14th minutes.
Taina Maranhão scored first after heading a cross inside the back post following a brilliant cross from Isabela.
A few minutes later, Bia Zaneratto had a great run through the middle of the field, played a one-two in the box with Dudinha and then finished the sequence for a goal.
The United States certainly had its chances. The Americans had seven corners to Brazil's three and had one more shot (nine to eight). However, only two of the United States' shots were on target.
The United States now has four wins and two losses in international play in 2026. The U.S. won the SheBelieves Cup, earning victories over Argentina, Canada and Colombia in April.
Brazil, which will host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, has now won four straight international friendlies after winning just one and losing two over February and March. They dominated in April with wins over South Korea (5-1), Zambia (6-1) and Canada (1-0).
The two teams play again on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET in Arena Castelão in Fortaleza, Brazil.
