Mitch Marner Makes NHL History with Stanley Cup Final Hat Trick in 2nd Period of Game 3

Mitch Marner made history for the Vegas Golden Knights during the second period of the team's matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final on Saturday.

Marner recorded the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history by scoring three times in just over six minutes, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

It also represented his second hat trick of the 2026 playoffs.

Marner previously recorded a hat trick in Game 3 of Vegas' second-round series victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

With all three goals scored consecutively on Saturday, he became the second player to notch a natural hat trick in a single period in Stanley Cup Final history.

After Vegas had two goals overturned near the beginning of the second period against Carolina with the score tied 0-0, Tomáš Hertl gave the Golden Knights their first lead before Marner quickly extended the advantage to 4-0.

Marner is in the midst of his inaugural season with Vegas after spending the first nine years of his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He racked up 24 goals and 56 assists during his 2025-26 campaign and has stepped up throughout the Golden Knights' playoff run.

Marner amassed 24 points in 18 postseason contests heading into Saturday's action, leading all players.

He added to his total in Game 3 as Vegas attempted to take a 2-1 series lead.
