Manchester United: 5 Reasons Why Ravel Morrison Should Be Allowed to Leave
Ravel Morrison is undoubtedly a talented footballer.
Images of his performance at Anfield last year spring to mind. He scored two goals in front of a deserted Kop and received a MOTM award.
It has become quite fashionable for fans to implore Sir Alex Ferguson to keep Morrison.
But is he good for the club? Here are five reasons why he should be allowed to leave.
1. He Is a Criminal
1 of 5A study in Sweden in 1988 stated that the rate of re-offending of crimes is nearly 65 percent if the first crime was committed before the age of 18.
Morrison was cautioned in 2008 for assaulting his mother. He was 15 years old.
In 2010, he admitted to two charges of witness intimidation and was spared a custodial sentence after the judge called his behaviour "appalling."
As a United supporter, I do not want a player like this representing our club in big competitions against some of the powerhouses of continental Europe. It would be embarrassing.
2. He Goes Against Club's Ethos
2 of 5Manchester United is a club with a distinguished history. Go to the museum at OT and you can feel the tactile background of the club.
Ever since the days of Sir Matt Busby, the club has been run with respect and dignity.
The club and fans expect the same from the players.
Players having affairs is one thing; players assaulting their mother is another.
3. Loud Mouth Never Helps a Club
3 of 5When you have Wayne Rooney giving you a word of advice about behaviour, you know you may have a problem.
After a Twitter outburst last year, Rooney gave the troubled prospect some "guidance" about what standard is expected.
Just look at Joey Barton, and you can see how a player with a loudmouth becomes bigger than the club. That should never happen at United.
4. He Has Not Responded to Club Help
4 of 5How much can a club do to help a player?
Since Morrison arrived at Manchester United when he was eight years old, he has been nothing but trouble.
He has been cautioned, suspended and banned in his relatively short time at United. He has even been put into "digs" with another Reserve Team player to try control his behaviour.
When will Morrison start to repay the faith shown? Probably never.
5. Paul Pogba
5 of 5If the rumors of PSG and FC Barcelona tracking Morrison are true, then we must prepare for his departure.
Although different types of players, Pogba and Morrison are both accomplished midfielders.
Pogba is a hybrid "regista"/box-to-box type player, while Morrison is more of a "trequartista."
Some United fans think that there will be a creative hole left by Morrison's departure. Don't worry, Pogba will fill the gap.
