Predicting 5 WWE NXT Call-Ups After WrestleMania 39

Erik BeastonMar 15, 2023

Every year, WWE examines its NXT brand for potential call-ups in the wake of WrestleMania. Fresh faces breed fresh stories and rivalries, enhancing a product that typically needs it after the showpiece event.

With Triple H overseeing WWE Creative, it is a trend that is likely to continue in 2023.

Who might find themselves called up to Raw and SmackDown and why would they be the perfect additions to the respective red and blue brands?

Find out now with look at the men and women who may well shape WWE's future.

Bron Breakker

1 of 5

NXT champion Bron Breakker has been the face of the black-and-gold (and sometimes neon) brand since its reboot to NXT 2.0 in September 2021.

The second-generation star has carried the brand as its top star since then. He has done everything there is to do with NXT, and despite his relative inexperience, the 25-year-old is ready to make the jump to the main roster.

A dynamic and explosive heavyweight in the same vein as his father, Rick Steiner, and uncle, Scott Steiner, he will benefit from working alongside names such as Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Johnny Gargano and Gunther.

Given the lack of higher-tier babyfaces on Raw, Breakker would be best suited to start his main roster career with the red brand, where he can enjoy a relatively high-profile spot and be treated like a big deal right out of the gate.

Regardless of which show he ends up on, though, Breakker is a future world champion and will be the centerpiece of WWE's creative efforts one day.

Zoey Stark

2 of 5

Zoey Stark has been treading water in NXT since appearing in the 2023 women's Royal Rumble match. And if there was ever someone who needed to make the jump from a packed women's division onto Raw or SmackDown, it's her.

The 29-year-old has impressed since returning from a lengthy knee injury in July last year, quickly establishing herself as one of the most promising in-ring performers in the NXT women's division. Perhaps more importantly, she has discovered her personality as a heel.

Putting all those pieces together was key to her development into a main roster-ready performer, and she can hold her own against the top stars in wrestling as she proved in the Rumble match.

Stark has outgrown the NXT brand and should be working alongside the likes of Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch and Asuka as she continues to evolve into one of the faces of the future for WWE.

Cameron Grimes

3 of 5

Cameron Grimes has been conspicuous by his absence from NXT recently and hasn't wrestled a single match for the brand since a loss to Joe Gacy on November 8. He hasn't worked a bout for WWE at all since February 24.

That will change after WrestleMania, when the 29-year-old makes his debut on Raw or SmackDown. Where he fits remains to be seen because the blue brand is stacked and he is unlikely to be utilized as a top-tier contender on Raw.

Still, it's time for Grimes to make the jump to the next level.

If he is able to showcase the character work he did in NXT, he will find success. As we've discovered with Sami Zayn over the last year, personality will always win a spot on WWE television.

Indi Hartwell

4 of 5

Much like Grimes, Indi Hartwell has overstayed her time in NXT.

The Australian has been a part of some memorable NXT moments, including the greatest wrestling wedding ever with Dexter Lumis, and has grown as an in-ring worker during her time with the brand.

It's time for a change of scenery for the 26-year-old, though.

Raw makes the most sense for Hartwell, whose on-screen "family" is already there.

There is storytelling potential alongside Lumis, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae and Austin Theory, as well as more on-screen opportunities in a three-hour show and a stronger women's division.

All in all, that makes the flagship show the best spot for a woman who is capable of more than she has been given to do recently on Tuesday nights.

Pretty Deadly

5 of 5

Even more than Bron Breakker, Pretty Deadly are the most main roster-ready act on this list.

Elton Prince and Kit Wilson are charismatic and entertaining performers who can go in the ring and keep fans engaged with their character work.

They have already proved an ability to hang with future WWE Hall of Famers Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods and have performed up to expectations in the sort of sports-entertainment vignettes and angles that are prominent on Raw and SmackDown.

Triple H has focused more attention on tag team wrestling than predecessor Vince McMahon did, but there is still room for improvement. Booking Pretty Deadly on SmackDown with The New Day, The Viking Raiders, Legado del Fantasma, Braun Strowman and Ricochet, and Hit Row will only strengthen the division.

It would also give The Usos or Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens opponents to work with coming out of WrestleMania 39, enhancing the upside of bringing the British tandem to the main roster sooner rather than later.
