Raptors Rumors: Gary Trent Jr. Trade Value Revealed Ahead of 2023 NBA Deadline
Toronto Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. has reportedly been the subject of trade interest from multiple teams, and it appears the sharpshooter is valued highly around the league.
According to Michael Grange of Sportsnet, "league sources peg Trent Jr.'s likely trade value at a protected first-round or two good second-round picks, along with a matching salary."
Trent has started 35 of his 45 appearances this year and is averaging a career-high 18.6 points per game while shooting 36.7 percent from beyond the arc. His contract has an $18.8 million player option for the 2023-24 season.

Grange noted that the Raptors would only deal him by the Feb. 9 trade deadline if it's clear he won't return to the team.
"From the Raptors' point of view, the likelihood of improving your team by moving on from a 24-year-old who has proven himself as a quality perimeter shooter is relatively low," Grange wrote. "If Trent was determined to leave, or the Raptors didn't believe they could re-sign him in free agency, the story might be different."
In addition to Trent, the Raptors have multiple players who have drawn interest in trade discussions, including O.G. Anunoby and Fred VanVleet. At 23-29, Toronto sits in last place in the Atlantic Division and could look to blow up its roster to prepare for the future.
There's also a chance, however, that the Raptors keep their core intact and try to make a push for the postseason. As the trade deadline approaches, Toronto's impending decisions will likely have ramifications around the league.
