POSITIVES

—Tough defender on the run. Slippery in block destruction, showing good physicality when needed.

— Does well playing close to the line of scrimmage. Plays fast and blitzes with speed and aggression. Takes good angles when blitzing and in space.

— Willing tackler. Will front up the ball-carrier and run through legs.

— Versatile defender who can play in both man and zone schemes. Plays with vision and anticipation in zones.

— Very good at reading and reacting to what he sees. Shows a burst when he decides to go. He is able to sink his hips to get in and out of breaks seamlessly. Has the ability to shadow receivers.

— Does a good job of fighting through traffic to stay with the receiver, with the closing speed needed to recover.

— Has the ball skills to play the ball in the air or fight through the reception point.

NEGATIVES

— Shows lack of length at times while getting stacked behind bigger receivers.

— Often chooses his quickness over physicality when taking on blocks.

2021 STATISTICS

OVERALL

McDuffie is a crafty cornerback with the skills to play in multiple schemes and positions in an NFL secondary. He is a top-notch athlete with very good speed, with the fluidity to sink his hips and quickly get out of breaks. McDuffie performs best in zone coverage, where he can see routes develop in front of him, along with quick-release balls that he can anticipate and jump.

He does a good job of fighting through the hands of a receiver, though he can get stuck on the back of bigger receivers and tight ends. Very physical when it comes to tackling. He will throw his body around and run through ball-carriers. A consistent negative in the running game is that McDuffie may consistently choose to beat blocks with speed, expanding running lanes at times.

His versatility is his biggest strength as the draft gets closer. There are few cornerbacks who can perform as well in both man and zone coverage. That will help separate him from others in this class.
