This, of course, is in reference to the countless alley-oop lobs Paul is sure to provide the rising superstar.
It turns out, however, that Griffin won't simply be on the receiving end if lobs this season, as he provided the alley to center DeAndre Jordan's oop in the Clippers' 108-103 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Wednesday night's preseason contest.
The play further showcased Griffin's versatility as he spotted the athletic center flying down the floor on a fast break, gave him a point and unleashed a picture-perfect lob that Jordan made no mistake on.
Most of the focus has been on Paul this offseason, but Griffin has a legitimate chance to be an MVP in the league very soon because of his varied arsenal.
Griffin will most certainly be the one finishing off the alley-oop more often than not, but this particular play is a microcosm of the excitement surrounding the Clippers this season. For their entire history, the Clippers have been overshadowed by the Lakers, but that may be true no longer.
The Clippers finished a perfect 2-0 in the preseason, winning both of their games over the Lakers. While that may not mean anything once the regular season starts, the writing is on the wall. The Lakers simply look like an aging, injury-prone team, while the Clippers are young, exciting and on the verge of greatness.
While it may be true that the Clippers are all style and no substance, they simply have too much talent not to make a big splash this season. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more plays like this over the course of the season, and perhaps we'll see a Los Angeles team not named the Lakers making a title run, as well.
