Matthews Will Play vs. Browns
Saturday, Sept. 10
Zach Berman of Philly.com reported Matthews will return against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Matthews Looking to Build on Strong Sophomore Season
Matthews was bothered by a back injury in advance of the Eagles' Week 14 meeting with the Buffalo Bills last season, but he's been healthy otherwise. The second-year receiver appeared in all 16 games as a rookie, and he has established himself as Philadelphia's most dependable target since breaking out two years ago.
After catching 67 passes for 872 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie, Matthews tallied 85 receptions for 997 yards and eight scores with Sam Bradford under center throughout the 2015 campaign.
However, Matthews was plagued by drops early last season—most notably in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers—and he seemingly hasn't been able to produce at consistent clips except in garbage time.
