Jeremy Lin: Overwhelmed Knick in for Rude Awakening Against Lakers
New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin is in a new world.
He was a high school star in Northern California and a college star at Harvard, but nothing could have prepared him for what it is like being a star for the New York Knicks.
After three games, correction, three-straight wins, in which Lin averaged 25 points and eight assists, "Linsanity" has officially taken hold of Knickerbockers fans across the globe.
Tonight, he'll get his first real test though. The three games he helped the Knicks win were against the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz and Washington Wizardsโnone of which are real contenders right now.
The same cannot be said of any Kobe Bryant-led team, and that is exactly what is heading to Madison Square Garden.
All the attention Lin is receiving has caused him to get a little overwhelmed, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post:
"Things are changing so much. Everyone wants to talk to me and my family. Weโre very low-key people and private people and so sometimes itโs a little tough...Yeah. But when I get on the court and play with our team, none of us are thinking about all the other stuff going on. Itโs just basketball to us.
"
The "basketball" part is going to be difficult tonight.
There is a good chance Lin is going to see Kobe covering him tonight at some point or another. With Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire out of the game, Lin is the Knicks' most consistent scoring option.
Kobe is a nine-time all-defensive first team member. Jeremy Lin is in his second season in the NBA, but he's about to get his welcome to the NBA moment in the form of Kobe Bryant.
