Houston Texans Offense Stagnant: Is It Time for a QB Change?
After putting together a seven-game winning streak and securing the franchise’s first ever spot in the playoffs, the Houston Texans, now led by rookie quarterback TJ Yates, have dropped two straight games to two of the league’s worst teams.
After losing to the Carolina Panthers last week, the Texans dropped another game on the road against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday night.
The Texans jumped out to an early lead when the defense came up with a huge turnover that led to an easy touchdown.

But after that, the Houston offense was unable to get into the end zone, settling for three field goals on their way to a 19-16 loss.
Despite loads of optimism and a ringing endorsement from head coach Gary Kubiak, Yates has proven that he is not ready to lead a playoff-caliber team.
Many are blaming the cautious play-calling for the lack of production, but anyone who knows Kubiak knows that he is one of the most aggressive play-callers in the NFL.
If Kubiak is calling limited plays, it's because he doesn't have the confidence in his young quarterback to give him a more aggressive game plan.
So where do the Texans go from here?
The first place to start is to give veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme a shot in the final regular season game.
A lot of people are down on Delhomme, referencing his past two seasons, which were horrible by anyone’s standards.
But anyone that has followed Delhomme’s career—and not just SportsCenter highlights—knows that the guy has the ability to win games in the NFL.
As a starter in Carolina, Delhomme was great until the offensive line started falling apart.
Once the Panthers were unable to run the ball, the passing game declined; defenses were able to predict passing downs and take chances.
Delhomme may not be the answer in Houston, but he surely can’t do worse for the offense than Yates.
Yates has the potential to be a really good quarterback in Houston, or somewhere with a similar offense, but he simply is not ready yet.
The Texans need to make a move, or they will have a very short playoff run.
