Week 15 Fantasy Rankings: Ray Rice and Fantasy Stars Sure to Disappoint

Donald WoodDec 17, 2011

If you are reading this, that almost certainly means you have made it to the second round of the fantasy football playoffs. Congratulations!

Every week in the fantasy football playoffs is the most important for your team, but playing the wrong stars this week will mean disaster.

The following stars have been fantasy studs all season, but they will come up short this week when you need them most. Be careful starting these players.

Ray RiceThe Baltimore Ravens are facing off with a tough San Diego Chargers team that has looked far better on defense over the past few weeks than they have at all during this season.

While star running back Ray Rice is having an amazing season, the Ravens will have to find another way to beat the Chargers, because they will be aiming for Rice all game.

As far as fantasy numbers go, I see Rice only managing 60 yards running, but he will have a few catches to make up for the lack of production on the ground.

Ryan Mathews—In the same mold as Ray Rice this week, the return of Ray Lewis to the defensive group of the Baltimore Ravens means small yardage for Ryan Mathews.

While San Diego will score enough point to pull off the upset victory, most of the real offense will be done by Philip Rivers through the air.

There is nothing worse than a serious performer coming up small in the big moments, but that’s what will happen this week for Mathews. Expect 50 yards rushing on 15 attempts and a catch or two.

Victor Cruz—Say what you want about the Washington Redskins, but when you get New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz lined up against DeAngelo Hall, it’s going to be a long day.

Eli Manning is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he will have to utilize his other targets Sunday because Hall will take Cruz out of the game.

With Hall’s ability to play in any coverage, Cruz will have no room to breathe and will only amass four catches for 50 yards at the most. No touchdowns this week.
