Why We Will Keep Seeing More and More Injuries in the WWE

Joe Burgett Dec 30, 2008

As we know pro-wrestling or sports entertainment is a dangerous thing. Many have gotten hurt in specialty matches such as the ladder match and the Hell in a Cell match. But the last two injured superstars have just been in a simple match-up.

Both were in tag matches at the time of their injury too. Of course I am talking about Evan Bourne and Diva's Champion Maryse. The main reason Bourne went out was because he had a difficult schedule.

Bourne had to wrestle against Matt Hardy in a PPV on Sunday. He had to actually wrestle a few dark matches before then on Friday. Monday he faced Rey Mysterio, then Tuesday he had a 6-man tag match were he was a big part.

All matches were at least 10 to 20 minutes long and in the tag match he wrestled a good but to where he had been in a good nine minutes total before he got injured in that same match.

He actually had to wrestle three times within 30 hours. Maryse had a lighter schedule. She had won the Diva's title Tuesday on the SmackDown tapings in Toronto.

She had a few more shows throughout the week in which she appeared and Sunday she got hurt. Looks like she will be out months with a similar injury to Evan Bourne's. She blew out her knee, it is officially dislocated.

She will be out of action for what some are saying four to five months. Now why do these superstars get injured so frequently? These are just a few examples between Bourne and Maryse.

It is the schedule the WWE gives them. I have noticed that they wrestle their superstars especially young talent about four times a week. Usually in back to back days. Sometime two or three times in the same night.

Then they make them wrestle again the following night. Never giving them a rest in between. Jeff Hardy actually got hurt before his win at Armageddon. It wasn't bad, but he did attain one non the less.

It was because he had to wrestle a 10 to 20 minute match back to back nights. And the way he wrestles you know it is possible he could get injured at any time. Same with Bourne, he got injured because he wrestled to long.

Schedules are hurting the WWE Superstars. I wonder why you don't hear about many TNA stars getting hurt. Usually when you do it is on TV. TNA iMPACT is done once a week.

They make them wrestle maybe two times every week. And sometimes three if a PPV occurs. The reason is because they do not do many house shows as the WWE does. Sure TNA is not at the level of the WWE, that much is true.

But they do have superstars that are pretty much healthy all the time. The WWE feels that they have to do at least five shows a week. Three on TV and two off. They are sometimes in the same arenas as the dark matches are.

But as you know they do live events, which are non-televised. Along with having to travel WWE Superstars have to wrestle, do promotions, and champions have a harder schedule than any.

A lot of the time, the reason the WWE puts titles on different people is because it is storylined yes, but it is because they know they can work well on the road and wrestle more than three times in a week.

As a matter of fact Matt Hardy is wrestling three televised times this week. While Jeff is only doing it once. The WWE can give people time off, but usually when injures occur it is when a superstar wrestles about two or more times in a week.

If the WWE wants to keep their superstars healthy I think they should lighten the schedule. Sure do live events and stuff maybe once or twice a week. But rotate the superstars.

Why do you think you have brands. Bourne was on RAW and ECW. Matt Hardy will be on RAW, ECW, and SmackDown this week. Keep them on one show that is why brands are around right?

What do you think, should the WWE give their superstars lighter schedules?
