If We Root Against Tim Tebow, Are We Rooting Against God?
If you're interested in the NFL, then you absolutely must have an opinion on the Denver Broncos' ultra-conservative Christian quarterback, Tim Tebow.
You either love the guy or hate him, there is no in between. For whatever reason, religion sparks a seemingly never-ending stream of opinions.
Whether we believe in it or not, people tend to have some sort of opinion on it. Religion makes for some controversial debate and we all love controversy, that's why it sells.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This season we have Aaron Rodgers having perhaps the greatest season ever by a quarterback and yet Tim Tebow is easily the most discussed topic in sports.
Explain that.
With Tim Tebow being such a major symbol of evangelical discourse, it's only natural that sides be taken.
From the beginning, Tebow has been derided for his inadequacies as a prototypical NFL quarterback.
It seemed as though every prognosticator had some sort of vendetta against him because of the intensely devout pro-Tebow following that has grown from both his religious views and his immense success in college.
People root against him because of their own religious beliefs, that they don't like having Christianity shoved in their faces or they just don't like Tebow.
With every victory that Tebow and the Broncos amass, his legend grows. The man has almost a cult-like following, people buy his jersey with the name Jesus on the back, and he has spawned Tebowing (the act of taking a knee and bowing your head to pray).
People are acting as though God has made it a personal goal to take Tebow and the Broncos to the Promised Land—aka the Super Bowl.
Yes, God has inexplicably decided to focus His attention on professional football rather than, I'll go with, the AIDS virus.
I'll admit that it does get annoying to hear people credit specific plays in sports to God as though professional sports have some sort of higher purpose on this Earth, but it's not enough for me to root against or hate Tebow.
It's almost like we all just wanted him to fail because that's what we were told to expect from him...failure.
Well, guess what, he didn't, and the Broncos are 7-1 since he has taken over as starting quarterback. No one can honestly say they saw this coming.
Not in the thrilling fashion that Denver has won these games week after week. But God doesn't have to have anything to do with it either.
Athletes, across the board, are overwhelmingly religious, and Tebow's refreshingly steadfast following of the faith is proving to be a lightning rod for the Broncos to draw strength from.
Sometimes just being a team that knows exactly what it's good at and having the utmost belief in one another is enough. So far it has proven to be effective.
There's no reason to hate on Tebow or his faith, the guy is saint. Not literally, but hating Tebow is like smothering puppies.
Unless you're a Raiders or Chargers fan, there is no reason for anyone to root against Tebow and the Broncos. Unless faith really is the reason for your hatred.
That's when it becomes rooting against God.
