WWE TLC 2011: 5 Reasons You Can't Miss Year's Final PPV

Tim DanielsDec 14, 2011

WWE wraps up its yearly pay-per-view slate with Tables, Ladders and Chairs. While it's not one of the year's most hyped events, TLC usually provides a good variety of matches that provide a brief respite from the usual shows.

There are several intriguing storylines that have emerged over the past few weeks, including the return of Kane with a mask. TLC will be used to advance some of these angles as the company begins to pave its way toward Royal Rumble in January.

Here are five reasons Sunday's TLC show will be must-see television.

Booker T's Return

1 of 5

Booker T will step out from behind the announcers' table and return to his rightful spot inside the ring on Sunday.

It's yet to be seen if he's back for the long haul, but judging by some of his recent skits, he's still got enough charisma to make it happen.

He probably won't be able to overcome Cody Rhodes, who has done a nice job of continuing his character's progression in recent months.

Giving Booker T the title immediately would be too harsh of an end to Rhodes' title reign.

It will be more interesting to see how Booker will handle an extended match in front of a pay-per-view audience. He used to be one of wrestling's biggest stars, so he'll probably do just fine.

Hopefully, this is just the start of something bigger for him.

Mark Henry's Dominance

2 of 5

In the modern WWE where short title stints are in vogue, it's been refreshing to see a superstar get a monster push like Mark Henry.

Built into an indestructible force, he's played the role perfectly and has the body type to make it believable.

Hopefully Sunday marks the end of his feud with Big Show.

Watching two giants clash can be entertaining for a while, but a lack of in-ring versatility makes the momentum difficult to sustain. The current storyline has been no different.

There's no reason to take the belt off Henry at a second-tier PPV, so he'll likely retain in a unique way since it's a chairs match.

With each passing month as the legend of Henry continues to grow, it becomes more difficult to fathom which superstar will be able to handle the pressure of knocking him off.

Zack Ryder's Time to Shine?

3 of 5

After transforming himself into one of the WWE's newest stars, Ryder gets a chance to take hold of the United States Championship.

His feud with Dolph Ziggler has not only been featured on television, but on his YouTube show as well.

He's made strides in the ring in recent months as well by adding a couple new moves to his regular rotation, but there's still some work to do there.

More importantly, he needs to prove his gimmick is more than just a flash in the pan.

With Ziggler seemingly ready for bigger and better things, he can safely lose the title without being lost in the shuffle. While it might not turn out to be a clean win, as long as the fans get to see a Broski Boot and a Ryder win, they'll go home happy.

Kevin Nash vs. Triple H

4 of 5

This won't be the best pure wrestling match on the card by any means.

That said, there's a certain nostalgia that goes along with watching two former marquee names face off once again.

Plus, there's going to be a sledgehammer involved.

There's also a good chance of some unexpected twists.

The WWE has to be going somewhere with this storyline—it can't just be a one-and-done deal. They have put too much work into keeping both men relevant to write them off TV again.

The most likely scenario would be interference from an outside influence, but this is one situation where anything is truly possible.

Hopefully it doesn't end up being a major disappointment by just allowing Triple H emerge victorious in the usual fashion.

The Miz Flying Solo

5 of 5

The Miz's run with R-Truth provided some funny moments and helped the dissenter theme advance for a while.

Eventually it lost steam, though.

And truth be told, Miz deserves to be in main event singles matches.

He's able to get the crowd riled up like few other heels have been able to do as of late.

It was a major problem for Alberto Del Rio and eventually doomed his title run, so working Miz back into the WWE Championship picture was a logical move.

Since CM Punk is a virtual lock to remain champion, The Miz needs to emerge looking strong during the buildup to Royal Rumble.

It will be interesting to see how his booking goes after R-Truth returns from his wellness issues. Hopefully that doesn't bog Miz down.
