James Harrison Continues to Prove He Is NFL's Biggest Bully

Wes ODonnellDec 13, 2011

James Harrison knows how to tackle opponents. Whether he chooses to do so legally or illegally is entirely up to him.

He—like every other player in the league—knows the rules, but Harrison is one of the few that skirts the line too often.

The Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker is going to be fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Browns quarterback Colt McCoy not only because Harrison is a repeat offender, but because the hit was illegal.

The question of whether or not to suspend him is still up in the air, though.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Harrison doesn't believe his hit warrants a suspension:

"

"I don't think it's suspension-worthy," Harrison said. "I don't think it's worthy of anything, but that's just my own personal thoughts."

"

He then tried to justify the obviously illegal hit saying:

"

"They didn't even call helmet-to-helmet; they called roughing the passer. He took off running with it and, at the last second, he like chuck and ducked. He tucked the ball and made like he was about to run. So I was going to tackle him."

"

He didn't tackle McCoy; he leveled McCoy with a combination of his helmet and forearms.

The Browns quarterback was more than defenseless as he took approximately two steps after releasing the pass. The hit from Harrison was up under the chin and absolutely rocked McCoy's world.

While many could argue that the NFL has taken a crazily soft line on a number of hits, this is not one of them. Harrison also doesn't seem to care because he continues to break the rules time after time.

He shows no remorse and that is fine; this is still football. But if he continues to be a danger to other players the NFL has no choice but to act.

The action taken against Harrison thus far obviously hasn't done anything and he continues to push the limit of what he's allowed to do.

The only way to get through to him is to take him off the field.

And if that should happen Harrison said he'll comment on it then because he's not going to deal with ifs:

"

I'm not going to go with ifs. I don't have to worry about that. We'll see what happens when the time comes and I'll give you what I got on it then.

"

Naturally, we all look forward to hearing what the NFL's biggest bully has to say about it then.
