Von Miller: Why Tim Tebow Isn't the Only Broncos Player Performing Miracles
In Sunday afternoon’s game between the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, one Broncos player accomplished what seemed like the improbable in the team’s 13-10 come-from-behind overtime victory.
No, it wasn’t miracle kid Tim Tebow, but another first-round draft pick: Von Miller. With his sack of Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie, Miller tied the Broncos’ rookie sack record with 11.5, set by defensive end Rulon Jones in 1980.
Jones played all 16 games of that season, while Miller has played in 12 games so far, missing last week’s contest against Minnesota. With three games left to play, Miller is not only on a furious pace to take sole possession of the Broncos' rookie sack record, but also the league's record of 14.5, set by then Titans rookie Javon Kearse in 1999.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
What’s even more amazing (or even miraculous) about Miller’s performance in Sunday’s game was the fact that he played over 60 minutes with a full cast over his right thumb, which was surgically repaired over a week-and-a-half ago.
Miller has also garnered comparisons to former Broncos linebacker Mike Croel. Croel had 10 sacks as a rookie in 1991, after being drafted as the fourth pick overall out of Nebraska. Sadly, Croel accomplished little else in his career after that season, a historical precedent that Broncos fans hope Miller doesn’t repeat.
Teammate Elvis Dumervil also added a sack against Chicago, Dumervil is now fourth on the Broncos’ all-time list of most sacks in a rookie season. Dumervil posted 8.5 sacks as a rookie in 2006.
What’s also gaining attention is Von Miller’s style off the field, and his dances after sacks. Von Miller’s touchdown dance is a rendition of the “Cooking Dance” popularized by rapper Lil’ B in YouTube videos.
The dance depicts an action of eating with two hands, and after the Chicago game he explained how it translated to his mentality on the field.
"“On the field, that’s how we feel. Whenever we get a chance, we’re going to take it all. Eat greedy, eat with both hands. Big steaks,” Miller said to the gaggle of reporters gathered in the Broncos locker room after the game.
"
Miller has the Broncos looking forward not only to big steaks, but big stakes, because with each quarterback takedown Miller makes, the team inches closer to the playoffs.
