NFL Picks Week 14: Predicting a Stat Line for Each QB and Who Will Win

Katie DayDec 9, 2011

Week 14 has arrived, and if you're looking for some fantasy insight to start your best quarterbacks, you've come to the right place.

Thursday night has come and gone, with Pittsburgh coming out with a win. As we approach Sunday, let's review every quarterback and predict his stat line for the week and which team will win.

Dan Orlovsky, Indianapolis Colts

1 of 29

Last week, Dan Orlovsky did well playing against New England. He threw for two touchdowns, one interception and 353 yards.

This week, however, he'll be facing a tougher defense, but the Baltimore Ravens have lost to weaker foes on the road. He will put up some good numbers, but he won't win this week.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 200 yards

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

2 of 29

Joe Flacco didn't have good numbers last week against the Cleveland Browns. His team won, but his stats were no touchdowns, one fumble, and he threw for 158 yards.

Flacco and their team believe in the luck of his Fu Manchu, his symbolist-poet mustache that he revealed at the 49ers game on Thanksgiving. The Ravens are 2-0, but let's see if the magic luck of the 'stache will help his fantasy numbers as he places a win over the Colts.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs and 290 yards

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

3 of 29

Last week against the Houston Texans, Matt Ryan had a terrible game throwing for one touchdown, two interceptions and 267 yards. His numbers weren't so bad but Ryan struggled on the field.

He will be facing the Panthers who haven't been strong on the running game defense, so expect him to put up some solid good numbers. The Falcons and Ryan are pressured to keep their playoff hopes alive. They need to win, and it'll be a tight game against the Panthers.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs, 1 INT and 300 yards

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

4 of 29

Cam Newton had the game of his career last week against Tampa Bay. He threw for one touchdown, rushed for three and threw for 204 yards. He broke an NFL record of 13 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Newton is getting the ball down to the end zone, one way or another. He just may be able to pull off a win over the Falcons.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDs (possibly one passing and two rushing) and 200 yards

TJ Yates, Houston Texans

5 of 29

For a third-string quarterback, TJ Yates helped lead the Texans to a big win over Atlanta last week. His numbers weren't too bad: one touchdown pass, one loss fumble, and he threw for 188 yards.

Facing Cincinnati this week, he will be placed under the test again, but the Texans are finding ways to win even without their star players.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs and 200 yards

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

6 of 29

Andy Dalton didn't exactly have a great game last week as his team was blown out by Pittsburgh. He struggled throughout against the Steelers defense. He only threw for one touchdown and 135 yards.

He will face the Houston Texans, who despite the odds, have been finding ways to wins. He will have to play a great performance to beat them.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 2 INTs and 150 yards

Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings

7 of 29

Christian Ponder had his ups and downs last week against Denver. He threw for three touchdowns for 381 yards. He also threw two interceptions and had one lost fumble.

However, if he keeps this performance up, he'll be racking up some good numbers for his fantasy owners. This week, he'll be facing the Detroit Lions, whose own frustration has been their downfall.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 230 yards

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

8 of 29

The past few weeks he's struggled with wearing gloves and a splint, but now he's back to normal. Matthew Stafford looked like his old self in the loss against New Orleans last week.

He will be facing the Vikings, who have struggled all season with the passing game and keeping their lead. Expect Stafford to be throwing good numbers this week like he has been earlier this season.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDs and 325 yards

Josh Freeman, TB Buccaneers

9 of 29

Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers have been struggling all season. Freeman has been trying to develop into a strong quarterback, but it's been a tough trail for him.

He was out last week due to injuring his throwing shoulder but is expected to play this week against the Jaguars. With an injured shoulder, he might play on the cautious side this week.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 200 yards

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

10 of 29

Michael Vick is returning this week after being sidelined since Week 11 with broken ribs. It may be miraculous for Philly fans, but watch out, Vick might return a different player.

He claims he is done throwing caution to the wind. He is going to start sliding now instead of trying to run it down the field recklessly like he used to.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 200 yards

Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins

11 of 29

After a struggling start, Matt Moore is on a roll now with the Dolphins. They are seemingly finding their rhythm.

It'll be a gamble for them to beat the Eagles, but Moore and the Dolphins might just get it done.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs, 1 INT and 190 yards

Tyler Palko, Kansas City Chiefs

12 of 29

The Kansas City Chiefs have struggled all season to remain as the team they were last year. With newcomer Kyle Orton, who joined the Chiefs suddenly out with an injury, Palko finds the pressure on him.

He managed to pull off a Hail Mary to beat the Chicago Bears last week. He needs to pull another miracle if he wants to beat the Jets this week.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 265 yards

Mark Sanchez, NY Jets

13 of 29

Mark Sanchez has had a roller coaster ride so far this season. Right now, he finds himself, along with his team, struggling to stay alive in the playoffs hunt.

He's been hard to predict this season, and he's facing the Chiefs who have just a decent passing defense. He won't have great numbers this week, but he will be able to pull a win for the Jets.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 215 yards

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

14 of 29

In double back-to-back prime time games, Drew Brees has proven he is still the man.

While he faces the toughest secondary line in the NFL—the Tennessee Titans—there is no doubt that Brees will fail to please his fantasy owners. He'll receive good points and a win this week.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDs and 330 yards

Matt Hasselbeck, Tennessee Titans

15 of 29

Matt Hasselback has been free falling since his fast start at the beginning of the season. While he does have a favorable matchup against the Saints, don't count on him for your fantasy numbers.

Especially when the Titans have been relying more on running back Chris Johnson to get the job done.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TD and 200 yards

Tom Brady, New England

16 of 29

Tom Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and there is no doubt that he should be one of the best quarterback to play if you have him on your fantasy roster.

He's been averaging about two to three touchdowns a game, so it'll be another week of decent numbers for Brady as he leads the Patriots to another win.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDs and 275 yards

Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins

17 of 29

While it's unlikely that the Redskins will win against the Patriots, it will be likely to see Grossman actually put up decent numbers this week.

The Patriots defense has allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Even though Grossman has been horrible the past few games, he's on sleeper alert against the Patriots.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 1 INT and 250 yards

Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers

18 of 29

The 49ers have clinched the division and now are looking to hold onto the spot of NFC's No. 2 seed. Alex Smith has been putting up some good numbers every week.

Last week, he managed to throw for two touchdowns and 274 yards. Against Arizona, they may be forced to pass more as the Cardinals running defense has been improving. It'll be a win for the 49ers.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs and 290 yards

Kevin Kolb, Arizona Cardinals

19 of 29

Kevin Kolb played a decent game last week against the Dallas Cowboys and put up points for his fantasy owners.

But don't count on anything great from him this week, especially since he's playing against the 49ers and their tough defense. Most quarterbacks have rarely gotten more than 13 fantasy points against them this season.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD and 200 yards

Caleb Hanie, Chicago Bears

20 of 29

This is an inexperienced player and in his last two games versus the AFC West division, Caleb Hanie threw for six interceptions, two touchdowns and 387 yards.

He'll be facing the rising Denver Broncos this week, whose defense has been improving strongly. It'll be a game that will go the Broncos' way.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD, 2 INT and 150 yards

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

21 of 29

If you haven't already, it may be time to jump on the Tim Tebow bandwagon. The Broncos have entered the playoffs picture and part of it is thanks to Tebow.

There will be a Tebow Time against the Bears this week. He'll pull off another miraculous win over the Chicago and Julius Peppers.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDS and 150 yards

Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders

22 of 29

Carson Palmer has been a good choice since he took over the quarterback position for the Raiders. In his five starts, he's been putting up some decent fantasy numbers.

He will be facing the Packers and it'll be a game he will most definitely lose, but there will be no doubt that he'll put up some good passing yards. The Packers defense has allowed one of the most fantasy points to their opposing quarterbacks.

Predicated Stat Line: 2 TDs and 300 yards

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

23 of 29

Aaron Rodgers has been perfect again and again and again.

He's been the No. 1 quarterback since Week 1. He will be the No. 1 quarterback when the season is over. There is no doubt he'll win on Sunday, and there is no doubt he'll put up great numbers for his owners again.

Predicted Stat Line: 4 TDs and 325 yards

Ryan Fitzpartick, Buffalo Bills

24 of 29

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buffalo Bills have been disappointing to watch the past few weeks. They started the season strong only to be crashing and burning towards the end. To think they were once Super Bowl contenders earlier this year.

Fitzpatrick still has been putting up the decent passing yards, but his touchdown passes have been unpredictable.

Predicated Stat Line: 1 TD and 200 yards

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

25 of 29

While Philip Rivers has been whining about the Chargers' turmoil this season, he can't whine about his fantasy numbers.

While he's had some bad weeks, it'll be smart to play him against the Bills. It looks like another win for him, and he'll throw some decent touchdowns.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDs and 250 yards

Eli Manning, New York Giants

26 of 29

This is going to be a big game for the New York Giants versus the Dallas Cowboys this week. It'll be best to put all your trust into Eli Manning because he is going to put all of his effort into it.

This rivalry has always fueled Manning to go for it against the Cowboys. In his last four games against them, he scored 10 touchdowns combined.

Predicted Stat Line: 3 TDS and 300 yards

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys

27 of 29

Tony Romo's decent performance has been decreasing the past few weeks. He'll be facing against the Giants who have fared well in the Cowboys home.

It'll be a tough game and crucial showdown for both. Romo should be fighting with all he has against the Giants, and it'll be a bitter loss.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs, 1 INT and 250 yards

Tom Brandstater, St. Louis Rams

28 of 29

It appears that St. Louis quarterbacks—Sam Bradford and A.J. Freeley—will be out for Monday Night's game and Tom Brandstater looks to take their place.

This may end up being his first NFL start since being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2009.

Predicted Stat Line: 1 TD and 150 yards

Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle Seahawks

29 of 29

The Seahawks are 3-3 at home this season, and they shouldn't be. Tarvaris Jackson hasn't exactly been a great fantasy player, and he's not one you should want to play in the fantasy postseason.

But if you must, he'll be a better pick to play than Brandstater. It'll be a game that he'll win this upcoming Monday.

Predicted Stat Line: 2 TDs and 160 yards
