Albert Pujols: Why Los Angeles Angels Make Most Sense for Pujols
The Los Angeles Angels swept in late and have reportedly landed Albert Pujols, the most coveted free agent in baseball this offseason. It was a surprise to all, but it's a great move for both parties, as each gets exactly what they want.
Pujols now has the mega contract he so desired, and the Angels get the best first baseman in all of baseball, which will help them make a stronger push toward winning the American League West.
The soon-to-be 32-year-old had been with the St. Louis Cardinals for 10 years, but according to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, he'll be spending the next decade out west.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Everyone thought that the Miami Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals or even the Chicago Cubs would land Pujols, but the Angels have shocked the world.
The past two years, the Texas Rangers have dominated the AL West, but with Pujols on board, the Angles will definitely be contenders to win the division.
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that this deal will make Pujols the highest paid first baseman, and had he signed with the Cardinals then he wouldn't have been the top guy.
That is clear evidence that Pujols was only after the money, which is one of the reasons this deal makes the most sense for him.
Another factor as to why the Angels are a great fit for Pujols is that the aging superstar has the option to play DH every now and then. Joining the American League, Pujols won't have the stress of fielding everyday.
Remember that this past season, Pujols was injured when fielding first base. In a few years, he'll strictly be a DH, allowing the Angels to pursue other options for more talent.
The Angels know they probably spent too much money on him, but if he helps bring them a World Series, then it's all worth it. They had to up the price to out bid his other suitors, and they did just that.
You do have to feel bad for Cardinals fans, though. They win it all, but then lose their longtime manager and to top it all off, their best player bolts as well.
Los Angeles gets a much-needed boost in power to help compete with the Rangers, but they better hope Pujols doesn't slack off with all this money.
ESPN Stats and Info tweeted a great comparison about Pujols and his mega deal.
A-Rod has had his ups and downs since signing the lengthy deal, and Angels fans will hope Pujols won't follow suit.
He's not that type of guy, so I don't see that happening. Still, though, since it's easy to see Pujols was solely seeking the biggest payday, it's something to worry about.
Adding Pujols into the mix with Mark Trumbo, Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells, the Angels lineup is far better than it used to be.
When teams all around are consistently winning, sometimes you have to take big risks. The Angels are doing just that, and it has the potential to pay off big-time.
