Week 14 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Beanie Wells and RBs You Must Bench

Eric BowmanDec 8, 2011

It's playoff time in fantasy football, which means making the right moves in your fantasy lineup is extremely important. If you start the wrong player, it could cost you everything.

Running backs are very crucial in fantasy football because oftentimes they either dominate or fall flat on their face. The last thing you need this week in fantasy football is for one of your guys to lay an egg and put up two points.

That's tough to make up, which is why you have to start the right guys. With that said, here are three running backs you must bench.

As always, if you need any help with your lineup, feel free to leave a comment and we'll help you out.

Beanie Wells

The Arizona Cardinals have relied on Wells a lot this season, and he's the main reason they've won back-to-back games.

Unfortunately, Wells is up against the San Francisco 49ers, who have the best run defense in the league. The 49ers have yet to give up a rushing touchdown, and that trend will continue.

The last time Wells took on the 49ers, he carried the ball eight times for 33 yards but had just one fantasy point in standard leagues. Plus, the Cardinals only had the ball for 15 minutes that game.

Wells is not a good option this week because the 49ers will shut him down with ease.

LeGarrett Blount

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' top rusher has struggled at times this year, but has also torched some opponents.

However, Blount's performance last week against one of the league's worst run defenses in the Carolina Panthers is major cause for concern. He carried the ball 11 times for 19 yards, which is downright pathetic.

Blount battles a stingy Jacksonville Jaguars defense this Sunday, and he needs to be on your bench.

The Jaguars may be on a losing streak, but they know how to shut down big play running backs, and they'll do just that against Blount.

Ahmad Bradshaw

He's back and healthy, but he's still not ready to shine in terms of fantasy football. Prior to his injury, Bradshaw really only had two good games, and the fact that he splits carries with Brandon Jacobs really hurts him.

Expect the Giants to slowly ease him into play. Last week Bradshaw carried the ball 11 times but only managed 38 yards. He's rusty, and it'll take a few weeks before he's able to own opposing defenses.

Since the Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, Bradshaw needs to stay on your bench because he won't be used as much.

Dallas is great against the run, and it's easy to see the passing game with Eli Manning is working far better than the run game, so sit Bradshaw in Week 14.
