Ravens vs. Browns: Key Halftime Stats for the Browns

Joseph MerkelDec 4, 2011

The Browns are coming off an emotional loss to the Bengals. After watching a 10-point lead over the Bengals dissolve, the Browns can't let the loss get to them. They have a brutal schedule over the final five weeks.

While they're playing the Ravens right now, they have to play the Steelers twice and the Ravens once more over the final four weeks. Someone in the schedule office doesn't like Cleveland, because that's about as tough as it gets.

The Browns only had the ball for 10 minutes and 36 seconds in the first half. You're not winning many games with that type of time of possession, but a botched fourth and one conversion and a missed field goal have kept the Browns in this one.

Neither of these stats are good. Ray Rice already has 107 yards, tying a season high in rushing. But Ricky Williams, the team's backup, had 43 of his own. Cleveland is incredibly lucky to be in this game with the amount of yards they have given up.

If they can stop the rush in the second half, the Ravens' chances of winning skyrockets.

One big, interception. The Browns had a chance to get to the locker room down just seven points if they had run the clock out after a second missed Billy Cundiff field goal.

Shurmur decided to throw the ball, and rookie cornerback Jimmy Smith made them pay with an interception and a long return.

Smart football wins games.

Turnover differential is often the most decisive stat in this game, and with the Browns at -1, they'll have to figure out how to get their offense going in the second half.
